| We have recently lost the yoga room, and then the stretching area. We also lost the lower treadmill stage, to offices that make it feel like we are in a fishbowl. We have also lost the snackbar and the weight scale, and the phone. Most of the mats are missing. Have we lost anything else? |

| I realize that the loss of space at the Danforth is only temporary and it will be nice to see what happens when this space expands. It was not good to see the space at the west end slightly elevated from the main floor taken over by sales people at desks and phones. It seems like the sales people were right away the first priority and it's member workout space that has been taken away. Why not spend all that money on buying some equipment to replace the pieces that have been taken away. The phone was a very nice perk and the drinking fountain on the main floor are small things that make it feel a member is getting good value for their membership. |

I posted this in the Rules of Etiquette/Conduct thread when I got off on a tangent. But I am repeating it here for those who might have missed that post:
Does anybody else remember that weekend last December when Extreme took out all the equipment for the staff Christmas party?
I do! They had put up a notice informing us that the gym would be closed that Sunday afternoon -- without offering any compensation.
BUT!
It was Saturday around 4 p.m. and moving guys with dollies were hauling the machines out right from under us. I was about to get on the leg extension machine when some guy told me to get off. Half the equipment was gone, without warning or notice! (And some of it never came back I believe.) The mover told me he had to get it all out by 7!!!
I blew a fuse. The assistant manager at the time -- named Andrew -- was a very reasonable guy and said he agreed that it was wrong but he was not in charge. He held off the movers for a bit and gave me a few guest passes. (Another member also complained but most of the others -- newbies -- were kind of sheeple-ish about it.)
Anyway, I can only imagine the scene the next morning when people came in to get an early workout before the noon closure and found no equipment with no warning at all.
Thanks Extreme for treating your customers so well! |
