I have been a member since Oxygen opened and have little to complain about then and now. I don't use any of the facilities other than a treadmill and don't talk to any of the staff. As long as the treadmills are working and accessible during the renovations I don't care.
Call me petty but I am the customer.
They have been trying to give me one of their membership cards for quite a while now. About a month ago after more pressure I told the lovely young lady at the desk that if their rules didn't allow me to use the treamill without a card they should cancel my membership and refund the balance of the month.
This morning I arrived and my membership had been cancelled.
The card has absolutely no value to me and I can't see that it does anything but introduce extra costs for them.
I wonder if I will be able to find another treadmill in the area to run on without carrying around another piece of plastic? |

| Did you get the balance of your membership back? |

| I've been on monthly for years and wasn't billed for September so nothing to get back. |

Or slam the door on your arse on the way out?
I just don't understand a company that so easily alienates their main customer base! I've seen a lot of businesses come and go on the Danforth. Expensive places, and even "cheap" places, can survive the Danforth, but they have to establish a good relationship with their clients, to keep them coming back. I just don't see Extreme surviving on the Danforth with their current business practices.
The irony here is that, as another member has posted, some members often walk by the front desk without showing their card, because the "lovely girl" at the desk is too busy talking about... Britney Spears perhaps? Why would they take the effort to cancel your membership, and not just tell you to walk on in?
In my opinion, the management at Extreme is just all too young. They really don't know how to run that big monster they've created. |

| Fine by me if they don' want my money. Alfies/Riverdale is just as close and I'll be able to get in there before 8 AM on a weekend. |

Only problem with Riverdale is that they don't have as many dreadmills.
Listen, I find the card thing an inconvenience as well but, since Extreme is part of a chain which, presumably, allows you to use other facilities, I can understand it. That said, I have seen many people enter the gym without the card and just give their name. Their photo is in the system.

No problem as I only need one.
My picture was in the system too. |

And here I am -- I initiate the resignation in mid July, in writing, to the club's the GM.
And they're still charging membership fees to my credit card in September.
Go figure! Anybody surprised? |
