Does anyone have any experience with Frog Gym on Pape? It was formerly known as Jump Fitness.

I've heard a couple of people around the gym mention 'Frog Fitness' - apparently the Owner of the building (the one Jump was in) decided to open a gym instead of trying to find new tenants. So far...it's dead in there - can you blame people?? That space has been at least five different gyms over the years - it's a cycle of 'open/close' there. I'm sticking with Riverdale Fitness - I've been to alot of gyms...it's by FAR the friendliest (staff and members) and cleanest gym I've been to in a LONG time! And they have a 58 year history of being OPEN.

In fairness Michelle, and I am not knocking Riverdale believe me, it was Alfie's Gym that was there for half a century. Not sure if and when it changed hands exactly, but it did change names.

I am definitely headed there next.

Regular readers of Toronto Delivers are aware of my experiences dealing with Extreme Fitness buying out Jump Fitness and closing the location.

Shocked

Can this be true??

Isn't this like monopoly behaviour?

I will cross-post this.

Ok, so is that legal? Taking over the competition by buying them out, and closing them down? Isn't that an anti-trust violation? Does anyone know the answer to that? If so, where does one go about filing a complaint and bringing this news forward. I have heard of American companies doing this (hint MS), but I think Canada still has good business standards, and penalties for violations.

I asked the Manager (Shelley) about the name change - Alfie's gym to Riverdale (I figured you don't know until you ask) She explained to me that the gym underwent alot of renovations 3.5 years ago, and at that time they changed the name to 'Riverdale Fitness' in order to make it more female friendly (the owner of the gym at this time did not change - just the name of the gym). She said that heir membership is now approximately 35% women.

p.s. that was an unbelieveable website in regards to Frog Fitness!!

Thanks Michelle.

To be honest, I always figured Alfie's was kind of a macho place. I imagined cigars and fedoras around a boxing ring. The kind of place James Cagney would hang.
