You can tell they are reading us.
There are now sheets of paper at the front desk with maps for other locations, for example.
So here's a shout out to Tassos and the gang!!! |

Yeah, wooo hooo! I'm so glad I paid all that money to go to this gym... those maps are priceless. At least I won't get lost on my way to ANOTHER gym, because this one is now officially an overcrowded dump! Way to go Tasos. Thanks for ruining my gym, and ripping me off.
If they are reading us, they are not listening. I think we need to shout louder! |

I could not believe the crowd of new members at the desk, asking for their new cards. It took me a good 5 minutes to get through that line so I could show MY card to get in.
Way to go Extreme! |

I appreciate your feedback, 4y. And thank you for taking this forum seriously and for checking on it periodically.
While I administrate this site, and try to keep it open to everyone, and all perspectives, while keeping my own comments as neutral as possible, remember that I am also an Extreme Fitness member, and that I too have an opinion. I too am very upset and frustrated with the way Extreme Fitness Danforth runs, and I too need to vent occasionally. I think they have created a disaster out of a really nice place, my old gym.
I was simply being humorous. Apparently you don’t share in my sense of humour. That’s OK, it’s diversity that makes life work.
And to vent a little further. I have to say that when we started this forum, I personally had some hope that the management at Danforth would listen to our concerns, and improve customer service, among the many other concerns posted on this site (like replacing equipment that they still have not replaced after perhaps 6 months). I figured that, like most businesses, they would realize that if they don’t treat their customer well, the customers leave, they get a bad reputation, and they go under. (I do not want to lose my money, and I want this gym location to continue, in some manner.) The customer is always right, and good businesses work hard to satisfy the concerns of all of its members. It was even my hope that eventually Extreme would take over this forum as a means to communicate better with its clientele, after setting up and building membership discussion. So far, I have been greatly disappointed.
It has now been 3 ½ months since this forum began, and I still have seen virtually no positive action on the part of Extreme management. Nor have they taken the effort to even join the forum to interact directly with its members, although most certainly they review it from time to time. I created forum sections soliciting the opinions of other members, with the hope that someone has experienced some improvement in some way. Yet I see nothing posted, and I still hear mostly negative things about them. The Danforth location is much worse than it was when they first took over, and in fact, it seems to continue its downhill slide, despite all our collective feedback! Again, it boggles my mind the way they are running this business. If this were a professional company, they would address the concerns on this site. Where are they? Why haven’t they joined? Or apparently put in any effort whatsoever to address our concerns (like join this forum)?
From what I can see, the only positive move Extreme management has made is opening up other locations to Danforth members. However, despite the fact that there is a “notice” at the front desk informing that ALL Extreme members can use other locations, I had one member tell me he has been declined at another location, because he was originally an Oxygen Fitness member, and that if he wanted to come back, he would have to PAY MORE (upgrade). This kind of behaviour is just unacceptable. This is not the way to run a good business. To be honest, I no longer have any hope that discussion and reason means anything to these people. The Danforth location is, in my opinion, a dump, and so overcrowded as to be stressful and uncomfortable to go. I rarely go anymore, because of the crowds. When I do go, I often cannot do what I went there to do, and leave without properly exercising. My physical health has declined as a result. (I've lost a good 8 Kg or 17 lbs of muscle mass in the last 6 months! That puts me a good year BEHIND my fitness goals.) Promises made by Extreme have not been kept, and no word from them about why not, or how they plan to compensate us for the current mess.
As I said, it has been 3 ½ months, and little (positive) change at Extreme Fitness Danforth. I think now, we just need to collectively complain to authorities. Shout out loud! It’s time we all complained, and keep complaining until they HAVE to do something. This idle chatter seems to do little. These are not caring people we’re talking about. They want money, plain and simple. And they will take, it seems, anyone’s money, then offer little to give in return, in terms of value for the money. Maybe if you’re one of those $20 members, you don’t feel so badly, you knew more or less what you were getting into. (Were these new members informed that there would be no ceiling in the men's shower, and concrete and metal debris all over the washroom and shower floors?!) Many of us did not know what we were getting into. Most certainly those who paid for a membership before Extreme began construction are feeling ripped off. and I am in that camp to be sure.
No, I see this forum now as a means simply of educating those people who are interested in joining a gym in the Danforth area. This site details the ugly truth about the Danforth Extreme location, about Extreme Fitness as a company and the way they operate, and list alternative gyms that give much better value for the money. This site is about consumer advocacy.
And of course, it will be, from time to time, a means of allowing members to vent their natural and understandable anger and frustration, including my own. |

| The only good thing that came out of this forum is that we have a common place to discuss matters. The option to go to another location is useless. The reason why I (and my mom) have this membership is that it's right by our house. She's been a member of that gym for over 5 years, and I have been going there for 3 years. I'm not going to travel away and Extreme telling me that they're doing me a favour. I think we should keep reporting them to the City and get some press on them. |

| Good Idea Bob. But it takes every single member to do that, to get things done. Have you? |
