Well, well ...
They did not have a building permit until September 4, 2007.
This means that, when they demolished the front entranceway and did who-knows-what to the stairs leading up to the women's locker room (and demolished that too, presumably), they did it without a permit.
I just got off the phone with the city building department.
The building was a split zone, commercial and residential, when it was bought. (That means that Oxygen was probably in violation too.)
On Jan. 30/07, there was an application for a preliminary zoning review.
In Feb., it went to the committee of adjustment for variances.
In May, there was an application for a building permit.
The permit, which is for alterations to all floors, including the basement, was issued just two weeks ago!!!
Draw your own conclusions.
The building inspector is Orville Grant. 416-338-0855. That's his direct line.
I urge you all to call him and ask him if the building is safe.
I will cross post this elsewhere. |

I have called the Blding Inspector to report the open welding that was done a couple of weeks back - the new inspector to contact is
Fred Bergen 416 338 0858.
He was in on November 27th in the morning to ensure that all welding is behind the covers.
Everyone please call him should you find any other health issues. |
