I would ask all members to please post any unhealthy conditions personally experienced at the Danforth location. Under this conversation thread, or under Health and Safety Concerns.

Also, gabb88y, please list the persons allegedly involved in this incident. Their shameful actions should meet the light of day. I am so sorry to hear that you had to suffer through this (alleged) mistreatment. No legitimate, neighbourhood company should treat any of their members in such a manner, ever! (Short of endangering the lives or property of others, which clearly you were not doing.) Once their names are posted, I invite Extreme Fitness management to post a response, if they choose to defend their actions. I know you guys are reading this site.

As a caveat, they may have grounds for such actions if they were done on their private property, but there is no excuse for it off-site! Morally, this alleged incident was just plainly the WRONG THING TO DO TO A MEMBER. Period. Everyone should know how Extreme Fitness Danforth management treats its members!

I put together a letter last night cancelling my wife's and my membership. I called one last time and spoke with Elliot one of the managers who I spoke with before and he offered my wife and I two free months at the end of our contract. This is after Steve was too busy to come out and talk with me, after he told me to come see him two Thursdays ago. I told him to go back to Mr. Venet and say that we want the two free months part of our contract period as there is no way in heck I want to spend an additional two months in this Gym.

Elliot indicated that Extreme management was into the club yesterday to talk with Mr. Venet about what is going on.

I have complained about open welding that took place about a month and half ago on the stairwell outside the alley door, told him about fumes that cut my wifes and my workouts short on a couple of occaisions, told him about the lack of working water fountains - which they brought bottled water in, then ran out - and not have water jugs, Inadequate lighting on the second level - you can't read a book and its hard to navigate up there, additionally the welding behind the front screen was producing fumes which resulted in me calling the building inspector and he called me back saying he made ensure that the areas remained closed off. Finally the most dangerous aspect of the gym is the SEVERE over crowding. I do not feel safe working out there.... trying to do exercise with weights with poeple banging into you and fear that others weights could drop on you. I have never seen anything like this place.
Any complaints at the front desk where like talking to a wall - the staff was rude and couldn't care a less - as they said we are under construction what do you expect!!!!! Well we are customers here and it feels more like we are prisoners LOCKED into our contracts and having to work out in an unsafe environment. I have never seen any company like this and will be sure to never join them again and tell all I know about them. And to top it all off - no one returns phones calls or emails. I have sent several emails to Mr. Venet and Mr. Pappas and have heard nothing from them. They just totally ignore me and I am truly sick of dealing with these people. Thanks to this forum I was able to find Mr.Pappas name, not thanks to Mr. Venet who I asked several times for contacts at head office and again he ignored my comment.
After calling last evening and saying we wanted to cancel our membership we finally received a call back from Mr. Elliot - finally!!!

i am feeling very bad about this incident that took place. i felt i was in my rights to carry a sign. i think they intimidated me unfairly as i wasnt even close to their building. they had people follow me down the street. steve and another guy( i dont know his name )told me to come to them and backed away as i felt they were going to grab me.

steve and his body guard had to wlk from the gymn to the corner across from Sunvalley grocery store (as that is where i was standing ) to approach me . they have made me feel like a criminal for trying to get the truth out there by saying that they have already reported me to the police and that if i go anywhere near the gymn again they will call the cops and have me arrested for trespassing . i saw and spoke to about 10 people who were giving me the thumbs up and said i was doing a good thing . i cant believe how wrong this whole situation is

another news flash . mice are on the main floor now as someone who works out there saw them yesterday and complained and nobody cared .

if anyone wants my help ie class action law suit or to help on a newspaper article or anything i will be very glad to help . hand out flyers this wknd hey no problem . anything that makes me feel like i am not a criminal just a person who wanted to get into shape and be healthy . i havent exersized for 2 weeks now (before all this i ahd lost 20 pounds and was really getting healthy again )and now i am weight back and feeling depressed and frustrated. exersizing and losing weight is difficult in itself but when you have to fight off mice , bad air , darkness, lack of water and bullies it is impossible . gabb88y

Regarding the mice story, unless you see them directly, you can't announce that they are there. If you know the person who (allegedly) saw mice there, please ask them to join the forum and post it themselves.

Second-hand stories of accounts cannot be posted here as fact, I'm sorry. That goes for anything going on in the gym.

You can say something like this: I cannot myself verify that there are mice, but I have heard from a good source who said they saw them, so keep your eyes open. But saying that they have mice because a friend told you, that will not be accepted as fact in this forum. Readers, please disregard that post stating that as a fact they have mice, until we can edit that post, or prove that they do indeed have mice. Thanks. Admin

If anyone does spot mice in the gym, please call the Toronto Public Health immediately.
