Rather than post all over the forum every time I receive yet another brochure in my mailbox, I will confine my comments here.
Okay, so another week, another brochure.
The usual ''only $19 per month'' and ha ha ''first 50 new members only'' line, with the fabulous pictures of the space and equipment of some gym I don't recognize.
At least this time there's no misleading -- outright outrageous -- quote from the National Post saying this is the best gym in town. Was this an oversight or is management reading this and realizing that they were asking for it legally with that blurb?
Incidentally, I notice that Extreme now boasts 12 locations, up from the last brochure's 11. I wonder if another decent independent gym went down. |

Okay, so another week, another brochure.
Same as last week's.
The usual ''only $19 per month'' and ha ha ''first 50 new members only'' line, with the fabulous pictures of the space and equipment of some gym that I am now told is in Pickering.
There are an awful lot of those ''first 50 new members only'' offers, no?
Sounding awfully scam-my to me. |

Oh we have a new picture this week!!! Guys in suits, wrapped like meat.
Inside, the totally dishonest blurb, which refers to another gym -- not the former Oxygen, and not even Extreme under the current ownership -- as ''Dollar for dollar the city's best gym.''
The photos are of some gym I don't recognize and not of the dark and unfinished Danforth location, the only address which appears in the brochure.*
This is is misleading advertising at best -- and, to my mind, much worse.
In fact, I have had enough and I am now taking action. I will be bringing this to the attention of Consumer Affairs by the end of the week.

* For the genesis of the ''dollar for dollar'' blurb, read this thread:

Starting to get repetitive here ...
Another week, another brochure.
The usual ''only $19 per month'' and ha ha ''first 50 new members only'' line, with the fabulous pictures of the space and equipment of some gym that I believe is in Pickering.
That's false advertising, because the only address given is 635 Danforth.
I doubt that the Danforth location would be that big, even after the renovations. |

| As far as I know, that is false advertising. They list the Danforth site only, and quote the National Post article saying, misleadingly, "Dollar for dollar the city's best gym". The Post article was not talking about the Danforth location. Someone needs to check if that is false and misleading advertising. They are advertising a site in the midst of construction. That is not fair. |

There's no point. Extreme is not a member of the ad standards council.
Go to consumer protection.

You know the routine:

The photo they use of the guy, unshaven, close-up, mouth open, looking angry? Could be a ''satisfied'' Extreme member.

| Wow!!! Love how we continue getting flyers celebrating the "Grand Opening Celebration". Surprisingly there's no mention to the fact that the damn gym is currently non existant and will not re-open till Jan 2nd (which I have doubts in my mind that it will even open on time). I have a feeling there's gonna be an Extremely long line up on the day it opens from members (especially ones that were unaware of the closure and showed up to a closed gym) demanding re-imbursement. Can't wait to see what damage control they will put in place to keep the angry crowd away from the New Years Newbies eager to join. |

| 3 months free? Is Extreme finally getting the picture? Or just getting desperate? They seem to be all about the almighty dollar. |
