Hi,
I never got an invite as a member, although I admit my membership is on suspension until next month.
I just was invited as media.
Tonight, at Danforth, 8-12.
Anybody going?
Private message me if you like.

I'm boycotting the "Extreme Affaire". I think it's pointless that they host this party in the middle of the week from 8-12. I mean I guess if it makes them feel better, more power to them for patting themselves on the back.
They went ahead and closed the gym for yet another day in order to set up for the party. Free hors d'oeurves and wine spritzers aren't going to make up for my lost day in the gym.
Don't get me wrong. The place looks great. Anything looks good when you slap a coat of fresh paint and install new lighting. The fact is this is still not a fully functional gym.
I did receive a call yesterday from Extreme on my phone, they did not leave a message.Chances are they were calling to invite/remind members to the event. |

Thanks.
I have yet to go into the gym. judging from what people have posted here, and what I have picked up from the Danforth, Chris has it right.
And, of course, they are closing the gym for the party.
Maybe I will just skip it.
BTW: I got a birthday card from Riverdale Fitness this week, and a card for a free protein shake. Riverdale ain't beautiful, but it runs. _________________ http://thestar.blogs.com/broadsides |

| I don't want to sound cliche. I guess this gym is like an abusive relationship. You know it's bad for you, yet you keep going back. The reason being is that it's there and it's convenient for the neighbourhood I live in. Part of me knows that there's other gyms out there and the other half of me keeps saying "It's gotta get better". My patience has truly been tested over the last year and a half since Extreme has taken over Oxygen. I have never been rude to their staff because I know it's not their fault. This is just another sign that corporate America is trying to take over the little guys. Yet again I have received another $8 membership flyer in the mail. Extreme is trying to ram in as many people as they can and you feel that when you go work out. Last week I waited 15 minutes just to even get a locker to put my stuff in. I'm glad this forum exists because it allows me to vent my frustrations and others will understand. |

Yeah, well, they gave me 10 months extension after my Feb. expiry and I will show up on those occasions when Riverdale, which closes at 6 on weekends, is not open.
I joined a friendly neighbourhood gym, not a giant corporation, when I signed up at Oxygen after leaving another friendly local gym, The Training Room. No matter how beautiful or luxurious they made Extreme -- and I have yet to see it myself -- I have lost that loving feeling.
I don't have 15 minutes of my life to waste waiting for a locker. _________________ http://thestar.blogs.com/broadsides |
