There will be a grand opening ceremony on 30 April 09, from 5 to 9 PM I believe, with food and drinks.
They have a grand opening special price deal, offered until the evening of 30 May 09. Basically, the single location deal is $22 biweekly, with the first 4 months free! No enrollment fee.
The multiple location deal, which they call the Fitness Plus membership is $29.50 bi-weekly, with the first 4 months free! No enrollment fee.
New Location: 280 Coxwell Ave, at the corner of Coxwell and Gerrard, north west side. 416-466-8699 Opening May 1, 2009!
(This is not necessarily an endorsement, just adding to public awareness.)
Here's their website for more details: http://www.goodlifefitness.com/new_club_opening.aspx |

The new place is open! They offered a kiss-ass deal, with 4 months free! Extreme fatness.. er fitness... won't beat this price. The place is not huge, esp for a goodlife, but all the equipment is new, and it is not that over sized red crapola they forced into extreme. This is good equipment. I don't know the exact figures, but I think they have less overall square footage, but more equipment than extreme danforth.
The big difference is the staff. People at this location are nice! and they don't have that sleazy rip you off if they can feel that i always felt at you know where. The class room area is huge for the size of gym.
the downsize is the low ceiling in the lower floor weight room / equipment area. And why they didn't put in a steam sauna is beyond me! what a waste. they put in a medium-small dry sauna instead. oh well. With multi club membership, you can get the steam at their other locations. Let's hope they upgrade in the future.
I suspect if the gym does well, they will take over the space above them, and expand the facilities they have.
Which would I prefer? Goodlife on Coxwell, or Extreme on Danforth? Goodlife, for a number of reasons. |

the teachers seem much better at goodlife, and they have classes to suit everyone's fitness level. Overall they seem more organized with their classes than Extreme ever was. Bodyflow is a mixture of yoga, stretching, and some tai chi exercises. Great class.
One thing i keep hearing from people at coxwell is the stereo is way too loud downstairs, with really bad music. I agree actually. |

| one factor that makes the goodlife fitness classes superior to the EF classes is that they have fitness classes for all levels of difficulty. I remember the difficulty of joining a high impact class at EF, no thanks. So it was either yoga or a class I couldn't quite join. Goodlife has this kink worked out! And they change the routines i think 4 times a year or so, so they are standardized and not repetitive. way to go goodlife! |
